Wings make every day better, don’t they? There’s just something about chicken wings… especially really saucy ones! These simple slow cooker wings are sweet and tangy with just a little bit of a kick (more if you want it!).
Whether you’re getting ready for a backyard cookout, a great tailgate party, or just a family dinner at home, you’ll love these wings! The sauce is super-simple to whip up, and you can make it as spicy (or not) as you want!
Like most good recipes, I had something in mind when I started, but I didn’t quite have all the ingredients I needed at home. So I had to improvise on the fly just a little bit. But that’s what makes cooking fun, right? My honey-BBQ sauce is usually half and half honey and BBQ. But I didn’t have enough BBQ in my refrigerator. When I was searching, I did find a bottle of Buffalo-style Tabasco sauce, and that was the perfect thing to add to this sauce! (See the recipe card below for the amounts.)
Wherever you eat these wings, you’ll want to take a stack of napkins, and maybe even some wet wipes.
Speaking of wipes… why are baby wipes such a well-kept secret? I had to get into the “mommy club” before I realized how versatile baby wipes are! Sure, sure, you can use them to wipe up babies’ bottoms. But you can also use baby wipes for kids’ faces and hands. (I recommend not using the same wipe you used for the baby’s bottom). They can quickly clean a sticky spot off a counter, they can spot-clean a spill on a couch or a shirt, and they come in convenient travel packs! Needless to say, baby wipes are also perfect for wiping Honey-BBQ sauce off sticky fingers after you eat these wings!
Now I always keep baby wipes in my truck. They are, of course, handy for cleaning up my son after the playground or after a particularly messy snack. But they are also handy for me and my husband! As cattle farmers, there are plenty of times when we get seriously messy on the farm, and baby wipes come in handy for a quick mini bath before we get back in the truck.
So if you’re taking these wings to your backyard or your living room for a tailgate party, take along a pack of baby wipes! And when I take these delicious wings out to my family for lunch in the field in the middle of hay harvest, they’re getting baby wipes to clean up before and after they eat! Farmers are the original tailgaters, after all!
Enjoy!
