I’m going to be totally upfront and honest with you. These burgers are messy. But it is so worth it… this sauce is so delicious! So fire up your grill, grab a few napkins, and plan to eat outside – you need these burgers!
The first time I tried to make these burgers I mixed the honey and BBQ sauce right into the burgers. That… did not go well. The burgers didn’t stick together, and they completely fell apart on the grill. So I turned them into sloppy joes. (That did go well, but that recipe still needs a few adjustments. Don’t worry, I’ll share it with you here when I’ve got it right!)
So I needed a Plan B. Actually, I guess the sloppy joes were my Plan B. Now these burgers are my Plan C. it’s not always bad when things don’t go as planned in the kitchen – we ended up with Honey-BBQ Sloppy Joes for dinner that night, and then we got to enjoy these Honey-BBQ Burgers for dinner another night!

Tips for Making Easy Honey-BBQ Burgers
I used to make all my burger patties by hand. It’s kind of fun, but it takes some time, and the patties never come out quite the same. Then I discovered this burger press, and I’ll never go back! It’s very simple to use, very easy to clean, and I get perfectly-pressed burgers every time!
I do still mix my burger ingredients together by hand. It’s a mess (but it’s kind of fun). It’s the only way I’ve found to easily get all the ingredients mixed into the ground beef evenly. Just make sure you wash your hands well when you’re finished!
This recipe can make 3 third-pound burgers or 4 quarter-pound burgers. If you like sliders, you can make 6-8 sliders with this recipe.
Enjoy!
