Surprisingly, this is the most difficult of the pretzel recipes I have made yet. But, don’t let that discourage you! The other recipes are really easy, so being the most difficult isn’t actually that difficult! Plus, I’m going to share all my best tips so you don’t have to make the mistakes that I did!
Just in case you’re a little nervous now that this might be a “hard” recipe… I’ve made these pretzels three times. I took them to three different parties. I never came home with leftovers. In fact, the pretzels didn’t make it to the end of the party! These Garlic-Ranch Pretzels are worth it, I promise!
Tips for Making Garlic-Ranch Pretzels
- Use a bigger bowl than you think you need. You have a little mixing to do, and you’ll want plenty of room.
- If you can, use a glass bowl. The biggest bowl from this set holds all the pretzels and fits perfectly in my microwave (though if you have one a little bigger that will still fit in your microwave, use that instead). It helps if you can see how much of your garlic-ranch mixture is sticking to the bottom of the bowl so you know how hard to stir.
- Do not – I repeat, do not – mix the garlic and ranch in with the melted butter. It makes concrete. Trust me. (This is the hardest part of the recipe! If you avoided the concrete, you’re practically done!)
- Do sprinkle the garlic and ranch over your pretzels and mix them very gently. You don’t want all the powder sitting on top of the pretzels, but you also don’t want all the powder sitting on the bottom of the bowl.
- Do use a soft silicone spatula to mix the pretzels in the butter. The soft silicone helps the pretzels not break into a million tiny pieces. And the spatula helps you scrape all the yummy garlic-ranch flavor off the sides and bottom of the bowl so it can stick to your pretzels.
That’s it! That wasn’t too hard, was it? Now go eat those pretzels before someone else eats them all first!
Enjoy!

Just found this recipe – it’s gone over really well! We put in a bit less garlic because of the younger ones saying it was too spicy.
Also, instead of mixing it in a bowl, we divided the recipe, poured the melted butter over the pretzels and then added that to a large storage bag that contained the spices and shook it up – just like shake and bake. 😉 Then did the other half. It worked out really well,
