What’s in My Refrigerator?
{Referral links are used in this post.}
Have you ever found that container in the back of your refrigerator? You know the one… You’re afraid to even open it because you can’t remember how long it’s been in there, let alone what it was in the first place! Those carrots in the bottom of the vegetable drawer, how long have they been there?
It is completely normal to have these “mystery dishes” every once in a while. But if you keep a refrigerator inventory, it will happen a lot less often!
Why Do I Need a Refrigerator Inventory?
Good question. It might seem like a silly thing. We usually use up things pretty quickly from our refrigerator. You probably wouldn’t put milk or eggs on a refrigerator inventory. But what about that bottle of ketchup? Or that last little bit of salad dressing? Do you remember when you opened that mayonnaise? Or that big container of Greek yogurt that you bought for that one recipe a while ago?
Especially as we get close to the holidays, keeping a refrigerator inventory can be handy. It can help you keep track of what leftovers you have and how long they’ve been there. (Which makes lunches easy!) It can help you keep track of those random condiment bottles that clutter up the shelves on the door. (No? Just me?) And it can help you keep track of the ingredients for your special holiday dishes that you only buy once a year.
Better yet, post this refrigerator inventory sheet right on your refrigerator, and get reminded of what’s inside without even opening the door!

My Favorite Meal Planning Tools
Knowing what’s inside your refrigerator can help you with meal planning, too! Use your refrigerator inventory to remind you to have leftovers for lunch (or for dinner on a busy night), to eat the fresh fruits and vegetables you bought before they go bad, and to use up any random ingredients you might have left from another recipe. This will help you waste less food, which is great for your budget! It’s a win-win!
