Fall baking is so delicious – apple crisps, apple pies, applesauce… anything and everything apple! The hardest part is getting the apples prepped quickly, so you still have time to bake! This trick will have you coring and peeling apples like a pro.
Tools for Coring and Peeling Apples
You only need a few things to get this job done quickly – a cutting board, a large chef’s knife, and a paring knife. Simple, right?
How to Core an Apple, Step 1
After you wash and dry the apple, set it on a cutting board, with the stem end pointing up. Cut through the apple, just off-center, to the outside of where the core should be.
How to Core an Apple, Step 2
Turn the apple a quarter turn, and cut the next side off the apple. Make the cut just to the outside of where the core should be.
How to Core an Apple, Step 3
Turn the apple a quarter turn again, and cut off the third side of the apple.
How to Core an Apple, Step 4
Turn the apple a quarter turn again, and cut off the last side of the apple.
You’re left with four pieces of apple, and one square apple core.
Now all you have to do is use a paring knife to easily peel the four large apple chunks. If you prefer, you can use a vegetable peeler to take the skin off the apple, but I think a paring knife is just as fast. Then you can slice or chop the apples into whatever size pieces you need!
Now get to baking!
Enjoy!
