All the hustle and bustle of the holidays – attending parties, hosting parties, visiting with family, running all over town to buy those last-minute presents and run those last-minute errands… Who has time to worry about what you’ll be feeding everybody? Don’t worry – these 3 tips are all you need to know to get the perfect holiday ham on the table.

1. Choose the Right Ham

The first step to your easy holiday ham is to choose the right ham! These tips will help you pick the right ham – quickly – the next time you’re at the grocery store. Find out how much ham you need, and what kind of ham to try.

2. Read Your Ham Labels

Labels on anything at the grocery store can be confusing. Check out this post to see what food labels to expect to see on ham, what they mean, and decide which are important to you.

3. Cook the Perfect Ham

Once you have that perfect ham at home, you need to know how to cook it! Hams are pretty foolproof, especially any fully cooked, ready to eat ham. You can over cook them (then it ends up dry). Always use a meat thermometer so you know when your ham is ready to enjoy.

You can cook your ham without any added glazes or flavors, but if you want to really make it special try this Honey Mustard Baked Ham. It uses a 1-ingredient glaze, and couldn’t be any easier!

20 Leftover Ham Recipes

The leftovers are often the most fun part of any holiday… and there is always plenty of ham leftover! You should only keep leftovers for 3 days. Everything should be eaten, frozen, or thrown away by then. If you need some ideas of what to do with your leftover ham, check out this list of 20 Leftover Ham Recipes. I know you’ll find something the whole family can enjoy!

Do you ever wonder about where your ham comes from? My friend Heather raises pigs, and she invited me to her farm to meet her pigs and see what goes into taking care of them. You can read all about Heather and her pigs here.
