Steel-cut oatmeal is one of my favorite breakfasts. But steel-cut oats take so long to cook! Who has time for that on a busy morning? We cook steel-cut oats overnight in a slow cooker, but what happens when you forget to set that up before you go to bed? Instant Pot to the rescue!
This Instant Pot Cinnamon-Raisin Oatmeal is great to have on a busy morning. It is also a great make-ahead breakfast! Make a batch on the weekend, then just heat up a bowl for your weekday breakfast. No matter how you choose to enjoy it, making oatmeal in the Instant Pot is definitely easier – and less hands-on – than making oatmeal on the stove.
I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly my Instant Pot cooked this oatmeal, and how perfectly it turned out! This recipe only cooked for 3 minutes at pressure. After a 10-minute natural pressure release, you’re ready to enjoy delicious steel-cut oatmeal!
The oats were still a little chewy after the 10-minute pressure release. I like a little more texture to my oatmeal, so I thought that was perfect. But if you want your oatmeal to be a little more creamy, just leave the oatmeal in the Instant Pot with the lid on for a few extra minutes.
There is no sugar in this recipe. One of the great things about oatmeal is that everyone can customize their own bowls to however they like it! If you want to mix in some brown sugar, add some sweetener, pour a little milk in, or sprinkle some chopped walnuts on top, go right ahead! You’ve got a delicious oatmeal “base” to work with – now you can customize it however you want!
Enjoy!
