Do you have leftover cookies? Did you make the whole batch, and then decide that you don’t really want 8 dozen of those delicious chocolatey chip cookies talking to you… until they are all gone?

Yeah… that never happened to me, either…

So I made those cookies be quiet by hiding them in the freezer!

Seriously, though, freezing cookies is a great way to make sure you save some for later, and a great way to save time later when you need a few dozen cookies for that school fundraiser. (Or for that late-night snack… no judgement here, I’ve done it plenty of times!)

Freezing cookies is a lot like freezing cookie dough, except in this case we’re freezing the finished product. Grab a lipped baking sheet and line it with parchment paper. Lay the cookies out in a single layer, not touching, and cover it with plastic wrap. Then freeze the baking sheet for at least 4 hours (overnight if you can). Once the cookies are frozen, you can stack them in a gallon-sized Ziploc freezer bag.

PRO TIP – wrap the cookies in paper towels before you put them in the bag. Then you can label the bag “broccoli” and no one will ever find your secret stash!

When you flash freeze the cookies like this, they won’t stick together. This way you can grab just one or two cookies at a time. Just leave them out at room temperature for a few minutes to thaw. Toss a couple in a lunchbox for a homemade treat!

If you have a freezer inventory, don’t forget to add your frozen cookies. You don’t want to make another batch of 8 dozen cookies if you still have 6 dozen left in the freezer… or maybe you do…

Enjoy!
