Now that you know who is coming to dinner, it’s time to figure out what you’re making. Don’t be afraid to delegate – if you’re making the turkey, let someone else bring the mashed potatoes and put someone else in charge of bringing all the drinks. Jot their name down next to what they are supposed to be bringing so you know you don’t have to worry about it.
Pro tip – if you do have family or friends bringing dishes, make sure they know ahead of time if there will be oven or stovetop space to finish cooking at your house. If there will be room to stick the pie in the oven to finish baking, that’s great. If you’ll have every burner and the oven tied up, make sure they know so they can bring the cooked, hot side dish ready to eat. (And point them to these tips for keeping hot foods hot during travel and before dinner time!)
Once you’ve got your meal planned out, go ahead and start making your grocery list.
