5 Kitchen Gadgets I Can’t Live Without

We all have those trusty kitchen gadgets we use every time we cook. These are my top 5. What are the kitchen gadgets you can’t live without? Leave me a note in the comments below!

Egg Slicer

I love my OXO Egg Slicer. I have an older version that rotates so you can chop the egg in two different directions to get it chopped finely (perfect for this Easy Egg Salad!). That version, sadly, is not available anymore. This one is similar, but you’ll have to turn the egg yourself to get it chopped into small pieces.

Adjustable Measuring Cups

Measuring cups like this one from Pampered Chef or this one from OXO are fantastic! Turn them one way and you can measure liquids. Turn them the other way, and you can easily measure thick ingredients like ketchup, barbecue sauce, or honey. By the way, check out this easy kitchen hack to make measuring those sticky ingredients even easier!

Mix ‘N Chop

The Mix ‘N Chop has revolutionized the way I brown hamburger. Whether I’m cooking one pound on the stove or five pounds at a time in my slow cooker, I use the Mix ‘N Chop! My version is from Pampered Chef. Here’s another version that you’ll love.

Garlic Press

I cook with a lot of fresh garlic, and using a garlic press is so much easier than trying to mince a clove of garlic by hand. I like garlic presses like this one that have a cleaning tool to help you clean out all those little holes. Garlic gets pretty sticky once you press it, so be sure to give your garlic press a quick rinse when you’re done with it.

Of course, if you’re just smashing your garlic cloves, all you need is a large chef’s knife.

Serrated Vegetable Peelers

There is something about a serrated vegetable peeler that makes peeling vegetables so much easier – and more fun! Serrated peelers can even peel the skins of delicate fruits like peaches. Check out this one from OXO, you’ll really like it! I’ll never go back to a regular peeler again.

The next step is to replace your baking sheets with restaurant quality baking sheets. They don’t warp in the oven.

I use stoneware for most of my baking, so the baking sheets don’t bug me that much. But, you’re right… someday…

I have all of the gadgets in my kitchen that you have but I also LOVE my small mandolin slicer. Got it from a friend who was downsizing and I love it!!! I use a large one with interchangeable plates my mom gave me years ago for large canning jobs like squash or cucumber pickles. Thanks for all the interesting and informative articles!!!

I have a mandolin slicer too, but I don’t think to use it very often! I’m going to have to make a habit of getting it out more.
