Remodel Mondays – Finishing Touches

By Marybeth Feutz 4 Comments

We are getting so close… Most of the major work is done and we are working on the finishing touches for our new house now!

The kitchen is pretty well put together. The (giant) refrigerator is in place and hooked up. I love getting ice water right out of the door! They still need to finish installing the gas stove, but everything else is ready to go!

The bedroom with the refinished hardwood floor is just about finished – it only needs doorknobs on the closet doors and outlet covers. (Oh, the insides of the closets aren’t done yet…)

The living room with the beautiful refinished hardwood floor is also just about ready – this one only needs outlet covers and vent covers.

The new full bathroom in the hallway is finished, but a little bit messy.

The laundry room is coming along beautifully – complete with utility sink and counter space on the opposite
wall. Hopefully the gas line for the dryer is hooked up on Monday!

The master bathroom is getting there… The light fixture and all the hardware is installed.

But we’re still missing the countertop and sinks.

Hubby Doc has been working furiously all weekend to lay floor in the other two smaller bedrooms and our master bedroom. He won’t quite finish, but he’ll get the two smaller rooms done so the guys can install the closets, closet doors, and trim.

Believe it or not, it is really close to being finished! The electricians are supposed to be there all day Monday until they are done. The heading and air guys are supposed to be here on Monday or Tuesday to finish installing the air conditioner, thermostat, and vent covers. And our other guys are busting their butts to meet my deadline of Wednesday, 4/18.

Actually, the more I think about it, there is a lot more to do! Some of the drywall needs to be touched up, and then the paint will need to be touched up. (Here’s hoping that spot touch-ups do the trick and I don’t need to repaint anything again.) Oh, and there’s a whole wall in the master bedroom that still needs a second coat of paint. None of the closet shelving is even at the house, let alone installed…

But hey, it’s my birthday this week…

And one way or another, I’m moving back home! Hooray!

It’s new, but it’s a challenge getting/keeping it clean with some work still going on here!
