Hay season is in full swing here. John just finished baling the first cutting of hay at our house over Memorial Day weekend. We still have a few more small fields to do the first time. As soon as we are done with all the fields the first time, it will be time for the Gibson County Fair. And as fair wraps up, we’ll be heading out for the second cutting of hay! We cut and bale all our fields twice during the summer. Then we let the cows graze on the hayfields in the early fall instead of cutting them a third time. We need to store 4-6 of these big round bales of hay for each cow to eat over the winter.
In the meantime, I’ve started packing lunches for our son. He was more than happy to eat the cafeteria lunches during the school year, but the summer program doesn’t provide lunches. And would you believe we are only 7 days – seven days! – into the summer program, and I’m already out of ideas. Share your favorite school lunch ideas with me in the comments below, please!
