I finally got our garden seeds started! We always seem to be late getting our garden in, and this year is not going to be an exception. The seeds we start inside (broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, and peppers) are on their way. Next we will get the garden plot prepared by spreading composted cattle manure and plowing the compost into the ground. Then we’ll plant sweet corn, green beans, and potatoes. In a couple of weeks, once these little seedlings get a bit bigger they will be transplanted outside.
Last year, the raccoons got more of our sweet corn than we did. This year, most of the fields around us are planted in corn, so we are hoping there is plenty of corn around to keep those raccoons satisfied without eating all of ours!
