Now this farmwife has boots!

By Marybeth Feutz 13 Comments

A while ago, I finally upgraded from a Nissan Altima to a Ford Expedition. Driving a truck finally made me feel like a farmwife. But something was still missing. It took me a little while, but I finally figured it out.

Boots!

new in box

I wore cowboy boots all the way through high school and college. When I got into my clinical years in vet school I had to step into something that would be comfortable when I was on my feet for 12+ hours a day and looked professional in the small animal clinic. I had to say goodbye to my beloved cowboy boots for a while.

And, shame on me, I never rekindled that friendship. Until now!

Thanks to Country Outfitter, I got a brand-spanking new pair of Justin cowboy boots right when we got back from Hawaii.

I am not ashamed to say, I have barely taken them off since they showed up at my door.

I am not a jeans-inside-boots girl. My thighs don’t like it when I accent them that much. So mostly I’m showing off the bottom of the boot. But rest assured, the uppers are just as great!

Of course, I wore them in my new-ish truck.

And while inspecting the construction site at our house.

I even played a little kick ball with Buddy.

And this year, we had a country-western theme at our big party at the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association annual meeting. These boots kicked butt on the line-dancing floor!

line dancing

Seriously. Awesome. I haven’t done that in years!

sharp dancing

I forgot how great cowboy boots are. The first few days they were a little tight around my toes, but after the initial breaking in period, the soft leather stretched a bit and now they fit perfectly. I did get one teeny bruise on the inside of each ankle where two of the seams come together, but they don’t hurt, and the bruises faded. (Thinking back, I’m pretty sure I’ve had these teeny bruises with every new pair of cowboy boots I’ve gotten.)

The dancing did the boots good… They’re all good and broken in now.

I’m hard on shoes, always have been. But I love the way the light-colored leather is getting just a little bit worn-looking and starting to discolor a touch where they get rubbed and creased.

broken in back

I’m not sure that I could make 12+ hours on my feet without some soreness in these boots, but I’m not so sure I could do that in my Dankso’s anymore, either. Sucks getting old.

I’m back in love with cowboy boots. Not to cheat on anyone, but I’m pretty sure I need another pair in black. And maybe dark brown. And something with blue uppers. Yum. And these. I’m totally in love with these.

A retailer of Justin boots, Country Outfitter sent me these Camel Deertanned Cow Boots to review. The thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own.

Yeah, you do! Now that your presidency is over, you’ve got lots more time for playing around on the farm, I’m sure! 😉
