In a large bowl, combine corn meal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Pour liquid ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Melt butter in the microwave (use a microwave-safe container). Pour melted butter into batter and mix to combine.
Pour batter into a greased 9x9 pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes, until the edges of the bread are golden brown and a knife inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean.
Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes. Slice and serve while still warm.
