Slow Cooker Whole Chicken

Have you ever cooked a whole chicken in your slow cooker? It's so easy to cook a chicken in a slow cooker, and it's a great way to save money on groceries!

Ingredients

Whole chicken
1
onion
quartered
4-6
carrots
peeled and cut into chunks
Salt & pepper
to taste
4
cups
chicken broth
Instructions
Place onions and carrots in the bottom of a
6-quart slow cooker
.
Place chicken on top of the vegetables.
Season chicken liberally with salt and pepper.
Pour chicken broth into the slow cooker.
Insert
probe-style meat thermometer
into the thickest part of the chicken breast.
Cover slow cooker and cook on low for 4-5 hours, until temperature reads 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
Remove chicken from slow cooker and place on a
large cutting board
.
Let chicken rest for 5 minutes before
carving
.
