This Apple-Walnut Bread is delicious warm out of the oven with a little butter, warmed in the toaster oven later, or a thick slice for a quick breakfast as you run out the door.

Instructions
In a
large bowl
, beat egg and oil with a
whisk
.
Add 1 cup of sugar to egg mixture and stir well.
In another bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking soda. Stir well to mix. Set aside.
In a small bowl, combine the other 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Stir well. Set aside.
Add flour mixture and buttermilk to egg mixture. Stir well.
Add the chopped apples, walnuts, and all but 1 Tablespoon of the cinnamon-sugar mixture to the batter. Stir well.
Pour the batter into a greased
9x5 loaf pan
.
Sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top of the batter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
Let the bread cool, in the pan, on a
wire rack
for 10 minutes before removing from the bread pan and slicing.
