  • 1/4 cup 1/2 stick butter, sliced
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 pound green beans frozen, or fresh and trimmed
  • 2 Tablespoons minced onion or 1/4 cup fresh onion, chopped fine
  • 1/4 cup cooked ham chopped
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper


  • If using fresh green beans, trim ends and break into bite-sized pieces.
  • Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Cover, and bring to a boil over medium-low heat.
  • Simmer, covered, for 15-20 minutes or until green beans are tender.
